How do I add a friend?

Tap the friends icon in the top app bar, then Add Friend, and search by name or email. Your friend will get a friend request they can accept from their own Friends tab.

What does typing "SANKA" do?

Typing SANKA in any chat sends a location ping to everyone in that conversation. Anyone who has you as a friend will automatically reply with their current location, shown as a live map card right in the chat. This is the core feature SANKA is built around — fast, friction-free location sharing for the people you trust.

How do I trigger an SOS?

Long-press the SOS button on the chat list for 2 seconds. SANKA will count down 30 seconds (giving you time to cancel if it was a false alarm), then alert your emergency contacts with your live location.

SANKA can also detect a crash automatically — it monitors for sudden impact while you drive. Set up emergency contacts under Settings → SOS Emergency first.

Why isn't my location working?

SANKA needs "Always" location permission to respond to friend pings even when the app is closed.

Who can see my location?

Only friends you've explicitly approved. SANKA never shares your location with strangers, advertisers, or third parties. You can disable location sharing entirely under Settings → Share my location when SANKA is triggered.

How do I leave a group chat?

Open the group → tap the menu (•••) in the top right → Leave group.

I missed a call. What do I do?

Missed calls show up as "📵 Missed call" messages in the chat. Tap the call icon at the top of the chat to call them back, or send a quick message to reschedule.

How do I delete my account?

You can delete your account at any time from Settings → Account → Delete Account, or via our standalone account-deletion page at sanka.world/delete-account. Account deletion is permanent and removes all your messages, location history, and contacts from our servers within 30 days.
